PROCRASTINATION'S MESSAGE
Procrastination is a destructive habit, and it fits those with ADHD like a tailor-made glove. Repurcussions
of procrastination are vast. Failing grades, passed over promotions and raises, missed opportunities, ruined relationships,
and job losses are examples. However, left undone, the damage of procrastination runs deeper.
Negative messages
resulting from consequences of procrastination wear and tear on our thinking, emotions, and behavior. Unfortunately, the message
becomes more than, "Look what procrastinating caused." Instead, it is directed at the procrastinator rather than
the habit. "Look at the loser!" The message places blame on the person, rather than the habit. The person identifies
with the procrastinating, becoming one and the same.
Eventually the psyche is damaged.
An outpouring
of negative thinking, negative emotions, and negative behaviors occurs. The unconscious has done its job creating congruency
between it and the conscious mind. The person manifests the traits and outcomes of loser, failure, good for nothing,
or whatever repeated message was imprinted on the unconscious mind.
Procrastination is a habit. It has nothing
to do with intelligence. Like all habits, it can be changed by forming a new habit taking its place. It is key to separate
the act of procrastinating from the procrastinator. If you are a procrastinator, break the habit now. Don't wait until it
destroys well-being.

MEDICATING KIDS
More parents are using alternatives for helping children with ADD/ADHD. However,
the rapid rise in number of children diagnosed with ADHD has caused the use of adhd drugs to skyrocket. Within
4 years, drug sales for treating ADD/ADHD grew well over 300%.
The FDA has placed "black box warnings,"
the most serious type of warning a drug can receive, on Ritalin and other ADHD drugs. The FDA is aware that there have been
deaths from these types of drugs. Recent studies show a possible link between ADHD medications and sudden cardiac death.
It seems logical that first efforts in managing ADHD would be sound alternatives such as nutrition changes and energy
psychology rather than choosing to medicate.
Hyperactivity, distraction, and trouble focusing may be acting out
of unconscious, unresolved emotional issues such as anger, anxiety, fear, guilt, or trauma. In this instance, I find EFT (Emotional
Freedom Technique), the quickest and most reliable method of locating the underlying cause.
A growing number of
physicians practicing Functional medicine (treating the whole body rather than its separate parts), recommend making
nutrition changes to identify food sensitivites. Allergies, toxins, and stress are know causes of brain disorders. Dr. Mark
Hyman, MD is a leading doctor of functional medicine.
Give your child the opportunity to achieve success
without the use of medication.
Note: If you are using Ritalin
or other drugs for ADHD, see your health care practitioner for advice before discontinuing their use.
